"From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia I will bring My worshippers, the daughter of My dispersed ones and they shall bring My offering." - Zeph. 3:10
Projects
Strategic projects and intervention have been developed by Project Sheba to accelerate successful assimilation of Ethiopian Jews into Israeli society. Projects aim to increase employment, develop leaders, support needy families and give hope for the future.
- Children’s tutoring program:
- Project Sheba provides home tutoring for up to 30 children in the Jerusalem area each year. Ethiopian-Israeli tutors assist children who are struggling in school due to lack of resources at home, or low grades. Significant and notable improvements have been achieved in children’s work. Children with scholastic potential are also tutored; a number have been accepted into selective schools for gifted children after tutoring.
- Cost for tutoring one child for one year: $990 ($110 per month)
- Educational Scholarships:
- One-off educational assistance is given to needy families. These scholarships are given to assist with tutoring in areas of the country where Project Sheba is unable to provide tutors, to assist with school fees, or for the purchase of school and educational supplies.
- Cost of scholarship - $275
- After-school activities are also funded on a monthly basis, once a child receives sponsorship.
- Cost of sponsorship for one school year - $420
- English Language Classes:
- Many Israelis, including Ethiopian-Israelis, long to improve their English language skills for work purposes or for school requirements. Classes are provided for both children and adults through professional English classes as a service to the community. All that is required by the student is regular attendance and motivation to learn.
- Life skill and leadership seminars:
- Project Sheba conducts life skill seminars and self development courses on a regular basis. Topics include budgeting and financial planning; how to write a resume and apply for a job; developing self confidence and leadership skills; family and parenting skills; topics for women.
- Cost to support one seminar: Average cost: $250
- Micro business loans:

- Small business loans are given to encourage potential “entrepreneurs”. Funds are given after needs assessment to encourage small home businesses.
- Cost of one business loan: $2,000- $4,000
- Humanitarian Aid:
- Project Sheba receives many requests for humanitarian aid from needy families throughout Israel. Requests include dental assistance, medicines and eye glasses, as well as food supplies and basic family needs. Many families struggle to pay utility bills and general living costs. It is often not just the amount, but the knowledge that someone cares and can give hope.
- Cost to help one family in need: Any amount will make a difference and tell them that you care.
- Ethiopian Cultural Enrichment:
- Project Sheba recognizes the importance of preserving the rich Ethiopian culture that enhances multi-cultural Israeli society. Support, both financial and advisory, is given to sculptors, painters and musicians.
- Sample products for sale can be viewed to the right. Contact Project Sheba if you would like to know more, or to purchase genuine Ethiopian Jewish handcrafts.

A note from the Director:
Our projects offer you opportunity for involvement. I invite you to link hands with Project Sheba through financial partnership. The aim of our projects is to equip the Ethiopian Jewish community to rise to a new level of success and hope within modern Israeli society. With your help, this miracle is possible.
Opportunities also exist for groups and individuals to participate in these projects and gain hands-on experience. It is a unique opportunity to affect the lives of this ancient Jewish community and help them fulfill their God-given destiny. Please contact us for more details.
